We open our discussions with what colors will be representing The G.E.M. Group & what type of symbol/emblem will be used for our Letterhead?

 

Members shared their suggestions for our logo from colorful teardrops; emerald with blue diamond cut; a gem with multi colors; a dove flying around a globe; old pair of sneakers on a finish line; silhouette of holding hands around globe; symbol of the world with doves & gems & many more.

Blk Pearl: Comment ~ If we use gems for our logo will we be mistaken as jewlers & not the true meaning of The G.E.M. Group?

Beloved: Comment ~ I feel the gem represent the characteristics of each member of the group & all the different facets of the gem, wtih the different shapes and sizes as well as the different types of stones.  It will keep people guessing who we are?

BettyBoop: Comment ~ We need to be in a position where we have a plan in place. If we had a mission & vision statement it would be easier to define, everything eles will fall into place.

Tessie: Comment ~ I don't feel it necessary that we need to define ourselves right now...lets just make a decision on the logo & symbol.

Blk Pearl: Comment ~ Received an email from Fabulous Girl which was read to group. (email inserted as is) 

GOING THE EXTRA MILE
In times of sorrow and pain we come together to represent who we are
What we stand for as The GEM'S group, we are leaving long lasting impression
Reaching out and touching peoples hearts, by going the extra mile
Sometimes just letting someone know they are not alone in there deepest pain
We are making a difference in people's lives by going the extra mile
The news blew like a missile in heat
Everyone want to know  who we are.... where we came from....

what make us different or better than other?
Just one word going the Extra mile.

 

Beloved: Comment ~ Are we changing the vision? The reading of Fabulous Girl is more of a missionary or compassionate group.  Is that where we going?

Paradise Plum: Comment ~ We are still going to be helping other even after we have money, just because there was a statement read of how one see the G.E.M. Group doesn't mean we are off path.

 

Due to the differences on how to proceed we took a vote on rather we continue to decide on our logo & symbol or start working on our mission & vision statements.

The deciding vote was to create our mission & vision statements.

We have 3 members who will be working together on this task for review at our next meeting Thursday 08/07/14.  They are: Michigan, Fabulous Girl & Caligirl.

Beloved: Comment ~ Brought us up-to-date on how much we collected in donations for the food; plants & delivery charges for the Renfrow family. The amount was $499.17,  & $27.56 remaining.

Beloved has named Mr. Stilt as a honoray member of The G.E.M. Group, she commented how much he has done for us that helped us shine. 

We would like to show our appreciation to Mr. Stilt.

Blk Pearl: Comment ~ How about something more personable than a gift card?

BettyBoop: Comment ~ What about sending him some currencies such as dinar or dongs?  Other members agreed

Decision made is to give Mr. Stilt foreign currencies in hopes of the RV
